Chokmalichi barn, Sebastopol, CA, 2023
Earth and Sky
1,400 SF
The barn, surrounded by pinot noir vineyards, is the focal point of the view from the main house, and acts as a backdrop to a colorful flower and vegetable garden where the mural colors were gathered from. The mural alludes to the contrast between the exuberant forms of nature and the geometrical rigor of man-made interventions, with a grid of dots representing the protective sleeves placed around new vineyard shoots after they are first planted.

Happy Day, 2021
10 x 20 feet
Acrylic paint
Capp Street, San Francisco
This mural was commissioned by a young couple with small children. The mural is located on Capp Street in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District; it covers a wall facing the family’s home and front garden. The mural is flowing, abstract, festive, and welcoming – an invitation to relax and experience a bit of simple joy. The color palette picks up on their yellow front door and the window trim from across the street as well as the colorful Mexican flags that hang above 24th street; the shapes slightly mimic the yard’s sinuous tree. When their 2 year old son saw the mural, he pointed and said, ‘happy day’ - how could the mural be titled anything else?

Meanderings Murals
Hand-Painted
Ten panels: 10’ x 12’ (5), 6’ x 11’ (5) 10 total
The Meanderings is a large-scale mural composed of 10 painted panels. Commissioned by Hotel Zoe and Pescatore restaurant in Fisherman’s Wharf, the piece brings some levity to the street-scapes of San Francisco during shelter-in-place. Related but distinct, the panels appear intermittently along a full city block, taking the viewer on a meandering path. The imagery depicts bright ribbon-like forms that twist and overlap, evoking fluid movement with a light, uncomplicated joy. The colors depict nature’s seasonal transition from summer to fall, and are inspired by fallen petals and leaves found on the streets of San Francisco: a fitting metaphor for the resilience of life amidst the pandemic.
